A dermal filler is a gel-like substance made from naturally occurring sugars used to ‘fill-in’ wrinkles, ‘plump-up’ small areas such as the lips and ‘re-volumise’ large areas such as the cheeks. Early intervention with dermal fillers along the jawline can help prevent the appearance of some sagging and jowling. These treatments can help regain naturally defined contours and more youthful facial curves.
Treatments take around 30-40 minutes and generally there is little or no downtime. Results are seen immediately with further improvements over one to two weeks.
The dermal fillers we use at SILK all contain local anaesthetic. We may also apply topical anaesthetic cream where needed to make the procedure comfortable
Results can last for up to 18 months depending on the product used.
Please encourage clients to make an appointment for a Personalised Treatment Plan where we can work in partnership with them to decide on the most appropriate treatments to help you achieve their best. If you have any questions about any of the injectable treatments please ask Nurse Cher, Dr Zoe or Dr Aparna when you see them in clinic. We are always happy to talk about our treatments.
Areas commonly treated include:
Nasolabial lines ( deep grooves between the nose and the corners of the mouth)
Lips- to give more volume and/or definition to the lips
Cheeks-dermal fillers can be used to contour the cheeks and restore lost volume. This treatment can improve the lower face by lifting sagging skin
Top lip lines (or smoker’s lines)
Nose reshaping to correct small dips or asymmetry
Back of hands- filler can be injected under the skin and massaged in to give a more youthful appearance to thin, ageing hands
